Leif Jacobson grew up in the Northwest and earned his BA from Western Washington University.  He married his wife, Eileen, and began his career with the Anacortes Police Department in 2001.  They started a family shortly thereafter and determined to have Leif work two jobs so Eileen could stay home with their children.

Leif founded Cleaner Guys in 2002, initially as a window cleaning and pressure washing business.  Leif then captured a niche in providing impeccable and trustworthy commercial janitorial services to professional offices and medical facilities (it doesn’t get much better than an off-duty cop as your janitor!).  Leif grew the business by bringing on high-integrity employees, utilizing world-class equipment, and continued to expand with crews serving residential and commercial clients regionally.  Leif and his cleaning technicians obtained numerous IICRC cleaning certifications and captured the truck-mounted steam extraction carpet and hard surface cleaning market.

While Leif has a passion for police work, he began to see writing on the wall and realized that National and local police politics prevented officers from doing the right thing and serving the public with integrity.  By this time, the demand for Cleaner Guys’ services and crews was overwhelming and Leif had found a love for entrepreneurship.  Leif’s brother in law, Bob Shupe, is also a great friend and has vast experience in the fire/water damage restoration industry.  After careful deliberation, Leif and Bob decided to join forces in partnership and capture the region as the Northwest’s finest comprehensive cleaning and restoration contractor, exemplifying the utmost integrity, featuring exceptional workmanship and providing superb customer service.

On August 1st, 2013, Leif concluded his 12-year career as a Police Officer and Bob departed from his position managing international restoration franchise to pursue Cleaner Guys full time.  The Jacobsons enjoy a great family life with their four young children as a homeschool family in Anacortes.  Leif is an avid outdoorsman and also enjoys woodworking and playing the drums.

Bob Shupe has worked in the cleaning and restoration industry for nearly 20 years.  He has built a reputation as a first-class professional who exemplifies the finest customer service and technical expertise. He has the ability to accurately follow standard protocols in remediation, mitigation and, third party administration guidelines while retaining highly effective problem solving and creatively for more complex and difficult losses.

Bob has a unique depth of experience, having worked for large national/international franchise organizations on both the corporate/franchiser and franchisee sides of that business model.  He has also worked for large and small independent, local/regional companies involved with mitigation/cleaning services and restoration construction.  Bob has personally managed both small and large loss projects including water damage mitigation and repairs, fire damage clean-up and reconstruction, high-rise/multi-use commercial losses and localized catastrophic events related to river flooding and wind storms. Bob holds a Master Water Restorer certification with IICRC as well as smoke/odor and fire damage cleaning certifications.

Bob leverages an intuitive ability to put the needs of customers and projects into an efficient logical progression, helping everyone involved understand the whole process thoroughly from step one through completion.  He constantly keeps the overall picture in mind, knowing that he is frequently only the first participant in the larger restoration process, helping both contractors and claims professionals move through the restoration process smoothly and with reduced costs that can otherwise be caused by sloppy or short-sighted workmanship.  Bob’s clients always appreciate his perspective and his ability to articulate a vision of the claims process early-on, helping to establish reasonable expectations and a timetable for what will likely come next.

Bob is first and foremost a family man, marrying the love of his life in 1997.  He and Erika live in Mount Vernon with their nine children where they enjoy the quiet community, beaches, parks and mountains of the Skagit Valley.  Bob is a serious amateur photographer, enjoying both portraiture and landscape photography, he enjoys building and flying radio controlled airplanes with his sons. Bob is serious about learning and loves consuming books, audiobooks, podcasts and taking classes when possible and attending local activities as time permits. Bob is also a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Skagit Composite Squadron where he serves as Public Affairs Officer, Communications Officer and teaches aerospace education to the cadets in the unit.
